GMB INDUSTRIAL ACTION UPDATE – 9th May 2019

The Convenors from both DC’s have now met with GMB National and Regional Officers and have finalised the finer details of the ballot and how it will be conducted.

It has been collectively agreed that National office will be conducting the administration and that both sites will be balloted as one entity.

There are certain legal requirements that must be adhered to and GMB are currently ensuring that all the information they have at present would meet the necessary criteria.

Unlike an indicative ballot a formal ballot on industrial action must be carried out by an independent company and National office are in the process of arranging this.

In the interim

Today a press release has been issued to make the general public aware of the discontentment caused by the current situation and also the impending ballot on strike action.

Again please take the time to ensure your contact details are fully up-to-date, particularly if you didn’t receive an indicative ballot paper. We cannot stress enough how important it is that all details are accurate. Please see your GMB representative who will check your details and update accordingly if necessary.

There has never been a more important time to be a member of the GMB as strength comes from membership density. If you have a colleague that isn’t currently a member, please take the time to make them aware of the benefits of GMB membership.

They can join by seeing your local representative who will be more than happy to assist.
